News OK -- Fewer Oklahomans and travelers across the nation are expected to travel 50 miles or more during the coming Memorial Day holiday, AAA Oklahoma announced Thursday.

The organization expects that 4,000 fewer state residents will make journeys of at least that length during the holiday, down from 525,000 a year ago.

Nationally, the number is expected to be down nearly 360,000, from the 38.23 million traveling a year ago.

Higher fuel prices are to blame

Our family get together will in our nieces backyard. Five families, the longest round-trip distance will be 12 miles. We are blessed to live so close together. Remember and thank our military, pray for our fallen heroes and their families, on this Memorial Day

If people would not travel even if they can afford it they should stay home ..That way we can show the oiles that there is no demand..then we will see what the next excuse for high prices will be ...This could realy be a turning piont if eveyone would not tavel..We would all be united as consumers.. We have the power with this holiday coming up.. Stand United don't drive on memorisl Day...

No traveling here as well. I'll be staining my deck and other things that I don't have time to do during the week.

I'll be making the 120 mile trip back to the parents' house for Dad's birthday. But if it wasn't for dear ol' Dad, I'd be staying home. He's worth the $.
